  • staff training "on the job"
  • cardiological visits, electrocardiogram, echocardiogram and prevention of cardiovascular diseases
  • gynaecological visits
  • otolaryngological visits
  • neonatal and pediatric visits
  • infectious and tropical medicine visits

The Consolata Hospital Ikonda is a private, no-profit, catholic institution founded in 1963 by the Consolata Missionaries. The hospital is located in the Makete district, on the way to Njombe-Makete. It is one of the three hospitals of the District with the Lutheran hospital of Bulongwa (50 km) and the Makete District Hospital (30 km). The mission of the hospital is to provide general health-care for local population and to promote access to health-care for the needy, paying special attention to children, women and people who are affected by chronic diseases. Since 1997 it is registered with the Ministry of Health (re.no. 115002), it is recognized by NHIF (National Health Insurance Fund) and is member of CSSC (Christian Social Services Commission). In 1968, it was a small 60-beds hospital but today the Consolata Hospital has 322 beds and receives every day an average of 250-300 patients coming from different districts and regions of Tanzania.

In 2014 Università Cattolica and Consolata Hospital Ikonda established a partnership to realize different missions of residents in Tanzania. Dr. Maria Giovanna Antonaccio went in Tanzania from 5th November to 21st December 2014. On 2015 and on 2017 this partnership has been renewed.

The project was realized thanks to the fund-raising of Università Cattolica 5 per mille.
