Initiatives to strengthen the role of the woman and the family in order to reduce poverty and to promote development in Afghan emergency situation.

The project "Università Cattolica for Afghanistan" was born after the first explorative mission realized by prof. Marco Lombardi in cooperation with HQ Nato/Isaf in Kabul.
The aim of the mission was to evaluate, together with the international and Italian authorities in Kabul, the concrete possibilities of a partnership with the Afghan educational and scientific institutions. Therefore, the intervention was born from the analysis of needs revealing a specific Italian interest toward this country and a request of supporting the educational system by the Education Ministry and the vice Ministry of the local University.
The main purpose of the two projects is the improvement of the Afghan educational system in this specific situation of emergency, promoting the role of the woman and the family as factors of development with the certainty that investing in a reduction process of poverty means also to facilitate a slow process of cultural change.

The intervention is supported by the following partners:

• Project "Initiatives to strengten the role of the woman and the family in order to reduce poverty and to promote development in the Afghan emergency situation" - Lombardy Region - Regione Lombardia - General Direction Civil Protection, Prevention and Local Police and General Direction Family and Social Solidarity. 
• Project "Women and journalism: representation and professionalization of the Afghan woman in the local and global media" was realized thanks to the fund-raising of Università Cattolica 5 per mille.
