UCSC Charity Work Program 2023

The University Centre for International Solidarity (CeSI) promotes a new edition of the volunteering prorgam UCSC Charity Work Program for summer 2023. The program offers the students of Università Cattolica the chance to live service and volunteering experiences in Italy and abroad, aimed at enhancing their academic and personal growth.

The program is open to:

  • students enrolled in a Bachelor’s Degree, in a Master’s Degree or in a Single Cycle Degree;
  • PhD students, students enrolled in a Specialization School, PhD courses or in a postgraduate course;
  • recent graduate students (within one year from the opening date of the call, December 19th 2022).

The program offers 52 scholarships for volunteering experiences of 3-8 weeks. Scholarships cover travel, insurance and accommodation costs. For some destinations, a contribution by the selected students will be required. The students will give their contribution directly to the hosting partners according to the directions given after the selection procedure.

Please Note: for some destinations, preference will be given to those candidates with Portuguese knowledge (when specified in the project sheet). To demonstrate Portuguese knowledge candidates can send a Portuguese certification with all the other documents required.

The scholarships will be assigned after the selection procedure, divided in two steps.

STEP 1: ACADEMIC MERIT AND LANGUAGE KNOWLEDGE – the first selection step takes into account academic merit (weighted mark average, graduation grade, number and timing of academic credits earned) and language knowledge. Based on these criteria, a score will be assigned to each candidate, to determine their position in the ranking. The most deserving candidates will enter the second selection step.

Please Note: for recent graduates, PhD students and students of Specialization Schools the selection procedure will take into consideration only the graduation grade and the language knowledge.

STEP 2: MOTIVATIONAL AND COGNITIVE INTERVIEW – the second step of the selection procedure consist of a motivational and cognitive interview with CeSI staff and considers the motivations, the attitude and previous experiences of the candidates. At the end of the interview, a score will be assigned to each candidate. This score, added to the score of the first selection step, determines the definitive ranking and the consequent assignment of the scholarships. The interviews will be held in person at the Milan campus or remotely via Microsoft Teams.

At the end of each phase of the procedure, all applicants will receive information on the results.

The selected candidates must confirm their will to take part into the program within 3 days from the communication received by email.

Please Note: Participants selected for the UCSC Charity Work Program 2023 will not be able to re-apply for future editions of the volunteering program.

Candidates who opt out of the motivational and informational interview will not be able to re-apply for future editions of the volunteering program, except in cases that are validly motivated and communicated with adequate notice to CeSI.
