Death and immortality between repression and exhibition

The volume collects the contributions relating to the eleventh International Seminar organized in October 2021 by the "Julien Ries" Archive for Symbolic Anthropology at the Catholic University of the Sacred Heart, dedicated to the theme Death and immortality between removal and exhibition.

The recent Covid-19 epidemic has placed before everyone's eyes with particular force not so much the phenomenon of death, but rather the tragedy of dying. Man has always questioned himself on this question, trying in some way to overcome the anguish of knowing that he is finite and mortal. Religious experience still has much to say on this issue, not only beyond any reductionism to the biological dimension, but also beyond the trap represented by a media exhibition that often, under the alibi of current events, has shown itself to be completely inadequate to the anthropological drama of dying.

Texts by: Maria Chiara Migliore, Gianni Pellegrini, Silvano Petrosino, Julien Ries, Natale Spineto, Daniela Taiocchi, Sergio Ubbiali.
