Laboratory of Bioethics and Cinema

The Centre also promotes activities aimed at promoting bioethical reflection with reference to new forms of communication, such as the Laboratory of Bioethics and Cinema.

This latest initiative, which sees the patronage of the Graduate School of Media, Communication and Performing Arts (ALMED) and the Departments of Communication and Performing Arts and Philosophy, aims to be a real laboratory of thought in order to experiment with a different way of doing classroom, which is first and foremost shared and participatory.     

The viewing of the film is followed, in fact, by a confrontation with the participants through relationships in a bioethical and cinematographic perspective. Although a film remains a film, we cannot forget that it is in fact also a theoretical contribution in which the 'unsaid' often has much more weight than what is narrated and which makes it possible to bring bioethical issues closer to people who are usually distant from these topics, and to create forms of collaboration between disciplines

Therefore, the commitment, from time to time, has been to get out of the media chronicles, sometimes oversimplified or sloganistic, trying to clarify as much as possible, on different and complex issues: from euthanasia to assisted suicide, from illness to Human Enhancement, as well as philosophical issues in the strict sense, such as death, truth, freedom.
