Goals

The project aims to promote a shift in perspective when addressing the issue of inequalities by proposing a model for designing policies and practices. This model is based on the idea that, since the family is the cornerstone of individual and community well-being, it is essential to adopt a "family impact" lens in policymaking and practices. This approach moves away from an individual-based and sector-specific perspective.

Public policies are generally focused on individuals, but they actually have an indirect impact on family relationships. Failing to consider this impact can have significant consequences, both in terms of policy effectiveness and on the well-being of families and communities. This, in turn, can unintentionally create or amplify inequalities.

The project will develop multidisciplinary tools (Family Impact Checklists) to assess the alignment with a "think family" approach in four areas of intervention:

  1. Family mediation
  2. Home care for the elderlies
  3. Social services in child protection
  4. Human resource management
