Education for Peace and Resilience

At the end of the “Tutor of Resilience” project, CeSI expanded its cooperation with Adyan Institute for the realization of the “Education for peace and resilience” project. The intervention aims to promote an educational and integrated program for peace and resilience (Integrated Peace-building Educational Program – IPEP) designed to train Lebanese and Syrian educators and social workers.  This program and the sheets of activities to be carried out with the minors, will be collected in a manual which will be distributed to the social workers who benefit from the training. 10 educational centers are involved in Lebanon and Syria and also 800 Syrian refugee minors, 46 social workers and 9 coaches who support the operators – who are themselves victims of instability and vulnerability. Thanks to Adyan Institute’s big network of contacts, it was also possible to operate in Damascus and Aleppo, as well as in Beirut where the training meetings take place. In order to implement this intervention, CeSI and Adyan Institute foresee two missions in Beirut by University staff, experienced in the resilience field and in the training in emergency contexts. They will enforce the following activities: support the Adyan educators to the drafting of the educational program; training of trainers; management of follow-up meetings; evaluation of results achieved by the project.

During the next mission, planned for the end of May, the impact of the program on the children who have been involved in the intervention will be assessed thanks to a monitoring and evaluation activities followed by Unità di Ricerca sulla resilienza (Resilience Research Unit) of Università Cattolica in collaboration with Adyan Institute Alert International.
