About

Professors, administrative and technical staff and students shall contribute in the promotion and achievement of initiatives intended to spread the values of subsidiarity, responsibility and solidarity.

Statute of Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore, art. 10, comma 2, f.

The University Centre for International Solidarity (CeSI) was founded in 2006 to coordinate the cooperation and international solidarity activities of the Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore. CeSI is committed to ensuring that the huge wealth of knowledge and technical and scientific skills developed within our University is made available to the populations most in need, both through scientific research and the promotion of, and involvement in, international cooperation projects. To this end, CeSI is engaged in the field of international cooperation for development interventions in different cultural and geographical contexts.

Università Cattolica sponsored more than 200 projects in 75 countries all over the world, translating the principle of solidarity into concrete action.

However, promoting solidarity also means educating those who have had the good fortune to be born and raised in privileged or comfortable conditions. For this reason, CeSI has also devoted ever-increasing efforts to promoting volunteering experiences in countries in the Southern hemisphere. These opportunities have enabled more than 400 students of Università Cattolica to experience, in more than 30 countries, the conditions of less fortunate people at first hand and to understand how the professional skills acquired in the lecture halls and laboratories of the University can be used in the service of the common good.

We must regain the conviction that we need one another, that we have a shared responsibility for others and the world, and that being good and decent are worth it.
